History of the 1975 Corvette

The 1975 Corvette has experienced significant changes over time. We can, however, not only attribute the changes in the 1975 Chevrolet Corvette but recognize that this was an overhaul in the motor vehicle industry. An L-82 upgrade was available to boost the base model engine by adding 45 more horsepower. This more powerful Corvette, adorned with a L-82 hood emblem, was now capable of 205 hp. This upgrade allowed Corvette to hit a impressive 7.7 second 0-60 time giving Corvette a lead in being one of the fastest cars of its time! With the anticipation of future federal safety restrictions, Chevrolet decided that this would be the last Corvette model to offer a convertible option…at least until 1986 rolled around!

Updated and Upgraded

A more efficient Corvette was produced due to federally mandated catalytic converters with the marriage of unleaded fuel only warnings on the fuel gauge and fuel filler door. Electronic ignition was introduced as service intervals were extended. Another cool feature for 1975 , dual exhaust ran into one single converter and then split again sending dual mufflers and tailpipes straight to the rear of the vehicle. Electronically engineered tachometers began this year and the Corvette started using the metric system in speedometer displays featuring kilometers per hour.
